MANUEL (MJR) MONTOYA, Ph.D. (Series Presenter and Moderator, SAT & SUN) is an Associate professor at UNM’s Anderson School of Management. His work focuses on global political economy and how we make the planet a meaningful part of our social and economic realities and has published work on issues ranging from international trade to creative economy.
REILLY WHITE (Series Presenter and Moderator, SAT & SUN) is an Associate Professor of Finance and Endowed Bank of America Lecturer at the University of New Mexico. In addition to teaching MBA students, Dr. White serves as the University Outreach Chair for the CFA Society of New Mexico and advisor for the $4.2 Million student-run Regent’s Portfolio.
MATIAS FONTENLA (10 AM SAT) is a Professor of Economics at the University of New Mexico. His research focuses on development economics, return migration, and financial intermediation, with a regional interest in Latin America. A native from Argentina, he got his PhD in Economics from the University of Texas at Austin, and taught at CIDE and the University of Guanajuato in Mexico before joining UNM.
CARLO ARAGON (11:30 SAT): Carlo James Aragón is a Foreign Service Officer for the U.S. Department of State. Prior to joining the diplomatic corps, Carlo worked in the Sultanate of Oman, where he learned about the moral dimensions of Islamic banking and finance. He holds a Master of Law and Diplomacy from Tufts University.
JOSÉ A. RIVERA (11:30 SAT) is an internationally known scholar of community irrigation systems. Currently, he is a Research Associate at the UNM Center for Regional Studies and Professor Emeritus at the School of Architecture and Planning. Published works include Acequia Culture and La Sociedad-Guardians of Hispanic Culture Along the Rio Grande.
PATRICK SCHAEFER (2 PM SAT) is a recognized expert in international trade, investment, and criminal law and policy, with twenty years of experience in government, academia, and the private sector. Patrick specializes in the legal and economic analysis of transnational commercial, financial, and criminal enterprise flows in Western Hemisphere, European and Asian markets.
STERLING OLSON (10 AM SUN) became interested in the field of cryptocurrency mining when he started building Ethereum mining rigs in 2017. Sterling graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology before obtaining masters degrees in Engineering and Business administration from UNM. Sterling works in the renewable energy field of marine hydrokinetic energy converters.
CALLIE POERIO (2 PM SUN) graduated in 2017 from the UNM Anderson School with a Bachelors of Business Administration concentrated in finance. She currently works at Fidelity Investments and oversees the accurate reconciliation of all non-Fidelity mutual funds. Callie is also chair of the Women's Advisory Committee for the CFA Society New Mexico.
SONNY GOKHALE (2 PM SUN) is a professor in the Finance department at University of New Mexico and President of the CFA Society of New Mexico.
KENNETH SCOTT (2 PM SUN) is the Deputy Treasurer for Bernalillo County, New Mexico. Scott has an MBA (finance concentration) from the University of New Mexico.
JAY SHAH (2 PM SUN) received his MBA from UNM in 2018 and is a Marketing Manager at Dreamstyle Remodeling. He is involved with UNM as a mentor, a 'Marketing Chair, Board Member' for YPA, and recently published 'Financial Literacy for Immigrants & Refugees', a book co-authored/edited for the Refugee and Immigrant Well-being Project.
